College and Career Preparation
American Leadership Academy offers Advanced Placement (AP) courses through the College Board ®. The College Board’s Advanced Placement courses are college-level classes in a wide variety of subjects that the student can take while still in high school. They offer you challenging course work and a taste of what college classes are like. Students are able to take the following AP courses at American Leadership Academy:
- AP Statistics
- AP Psychology
- AP Literature
- AP U.S. History
- AP Biology
- AP Calculus
- AP Physics
American Leadership Academy offers honors courses in the core 7th-12th grade classes so that advanced learners are able to extend their learning beyond the core academic program. Students at American Leadership Academy also have the opportunity to earn an Honors Diploma during their high school career. Dual/ Concurrent Enrollment
American Leadership Academy has partnered with local colleges to offer dual/concurrent enrollment courses. Dual enrollment courses allow our students to obtain college credit for courses that they are enrolled in as a student of American Leadership Academy. Please view the the JH/HS Course Catalog for your specific campus to find full course descriptions of all dual/concurrent enrollment courses classes offered.
CTE (Career and Technical Education)
American Leadership Academy currently offers several Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses. CTE courses provide students with the advanced skills and training needed to thrive in today’s competitive job market. CTE classes combine academic, career and technical instruction with hands-on learning through certified teachers and experienced professionals. CTE courses currently being offered on-site include:
- Web Design
- Digital Photography
- Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation
- Construction Management
Additional CTE courses are offered at the East Valley Institute for Technology (EVIT). EVIT is a separate school district apart from American Leadership Academy as it is a specialized school offering high school level technical training in 13 cluster areas. EVIT students attend career and technical courses one-half of each day. The other half is spent at their high school. Transportation is NOT provided between school and EVIT.
STEM Honors Program
To demonstrate our commitment to developing students that are college-ready in math, science, engineering, medicine, and technology, American Leadership Academy offers a STEM Honors program for students in grades 9 – 12. Students in the STEM Honors program will be required to take Honors/AP classes in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Students will also be encouraged to take Honors classes in other core subjects. Students must maintain a minimum of a 3.8-weighted G.P.A. throughout their enrollment in the program. Participation in outside summer workshops is required, and they may include, but are not limited to: Introduction to Microcontrollers, Introduction to Robotics, Robotics Level II, DNA Biotech Fingerprinting I, and Protein Biotech II. To obtain more specific information regarding the STEM program, please schedule a time with a 7-12 academic counselor to review the program components. Graduates of this program will receive a STEM Honors Diploma.
