ALA Gilbert FAQs

When will we break ground?

Construction has started!  A groundbreaking ceremony will be held to celebrate the occasion on Thursday, March 9, from 3-4 pm. We would love to have you join us!

Will the campus be completed on time for school in August?

Yes. The construction team has built nearly 50 schools throughout the country, and they have the timing down to a science.

Will there be busing at the new campus?

Busing at ALA is determined by demand. By registering your student and requesting busing, our transportation department will be able to accurately assess the need and plan accordingly.

When will you start hiring teachers?

The hiring process has begun! We have been amazed at the incredible talent that has come forward wanting to be a part of this team. Those interested in being a part of creating the greatest school in the country should apply here.

Will this campus offer the same great programs that we are accustomed to with ALA?

Yes, as part of the “best educational experience”, we are committed to having an incredible athletics and fine arts program. Electives offered will be subject to enrollment. Our intention is to offer band, choir, orchestra, dance, theater, art, equine, Spanish, German, financial literacy, The Entrepreneurship Launchpad, technology, robotics, sports nutrition, strength & conditioning for varsity athletes, and more.

Will there be dual enrollment and AP classes?

Yes.

Can my student participate in EVIT?

Yes.

Does ALA offer online classes?

Students can take online courses through Primavera.

Will you offer all sports the first year?

Yes. The first year we will participate in the Canyon Athletic Association. Transfer students won’t have to sit out a year and will be eligible to participate immediately. We plan to move to the AIA year two.

Coaches will be meeting in early April to plan and schedule summer camps and clinics.  Once the dates are finalized, we will post them here on our website.

What are the school colors and mascot?

We are the Eagles, and our colors are blue and gray, similar to Georgetown University.

Will students wear uniforms?

Yes, the same dress and appearance standards apply at all ALA schools. Red, white, blue and gray collared shirts are the standard.

How much homework will students have? I’ve heard charter schools give a lot of homework.

Our mission is to “provide the best educational experience”, which includes academic rigor. But we also believe that students should be allowed time to pursue extra-curricular opportunities and hobbies, including family time. We don’t believe in busy work—worksheets are replaced by relevant literacy building activities like reading and writing. The majority of student work will be done in class.

When can I register?

Priority registration began in February. You can register now by clicking here.

How do I schedule a tour?

Click here or call (480) 420-2101 to schedule a tour. Our facility won’t be finished until the end of the summer, but we can give you a tour of one of our existing campuses and answer any questions you may have.
