The ALA Difference

At American Leadership Academy, we believe in the traditional values that make our country great. As a public charter school, we believe in hard work and competition. As educators, we believe in a rigorous and challenging academic regimen. As US Citizens, we believe in patriotism and community involvement. As neighbors, we believe in morality, service, and civility.

Our success as a school is not determined by test scores alone, but also by the quality of the individual that graduates our school. We are partners with parents and community to ensure that the students we teach are prepared for life. This preparation begins by instilling discipline both in and out of the classroom.

Students at ALA learn discipline in the classroom by following a strict code of conduct and by being constantly challenged by our rigorous curriculum. Instead of being dictated an endless list of rules, students are taught positive principles and encouraged to govern themselves. Adherence to a strict school dress code helps students come to school prepared to learn and minimizes socio-economic barriers.

Outside the classroom, students learn discipline by working together with their parents to complete  homework assignments and give community service.

As our name indicates, Leadership is a central tenant of our school. In order to help students learn and develop leadership traits, ALA has adopted the Stephen R. Covey “Leader in Me” program. This program immerses students in the nationally renowned “7 Habits” and provides opportunities for students to apply their leadership skills in real world applications. Training seminars are available to parents throughout the year to help take the habits taught at school into the home.

In addition to learning the “7 Habits,” students are taught to plan and prioritize tasks through the daily use of a school planner. This establishes a lifelong pattern of organization and helps students set and achieve worthwhile goals.

Most importantly, we provide an atmosphere conducive to moral development and growth. We know that leadership without morality is tyranny. It is our goal to develop leaders that have an understanding of hard work, discipline, respect, and patriotism as well as an understanding of civility and compassion. We are excited to work together with you, the parents, as we seek the fulfillment of this goal.
