Brand New High School Clinches State Football Championship in Inaugural Year

San Tan Valley, AZ – American Leadership Academy’s (ALA) undefeated Ironwood High School football team won the state championship only three months after opening their doors for the first time. The ALA Ironwood Warriors, led by head coach Rodger Schenks, finished off their 12-0 season with a 31-6 victory over Canyon State Academy. The championship game was held at Valley Christian High School on Saturday, November 21.

“What I find to be the most incredible thing about this championship is how young this team is,” said Mr. Bill Guttery, executive director of the ALA Ironwood High School. “There are only three seniors on the team. Most of the players are sophomores, and their commitment to honor, courage, strength, and discipline prepared them to beat more established and more experienced teams.” ALA is a non-profit charter school that started in the East Valley in 2009. ALA’s commitment to the best educational experience for as many students as possible within a moral and wholesome environment has led to unprecedented growth. Within six years, ALA has expanded to 5,800 students in six elementary and two high school campuses.

The ALA Ironwood High School, located in San Tan Valley on Combs Road, is the newest school to be completed. ALA will be opening a new elementary school next year in Payson.
