I am so thrilled to announce that all American Leadership Academy Schools will begin using the Raptor Visitor Management System to strengthen our campus safety for students and faculty. Part of keeping students and faculty safe is knowing who is in our buildings at all times, and the Raptor system will allow us to do that. This new technology will allow us to better track visitors, contractors, and volunteers in our schools and provide us with a safer environment for our students and staff.
All school visitors—including parents and district staff well known to us—will be asked to present a valid state-issued ID that will be scanned into the system. Raptor will mark the time of the visitor's arrival, and visitors will be asked to check out once they leave campus. The system will also compare the visitor's name, date of birth and photo with those in a national database of registered sex offenders. No additional visitor data from the driver's license will be gathered. Therefore, no other information connected to the driver's license will be accessible to any of the Raptor users.
Once entry is approved, Raptor will issue a badge that identifies the visitor, the date, and the purpose of his/her visit. After 24 hours, the badge will mark as VOID in red to ensure the badge is not able to be used again the following day. How cool is that? We won't ask you to check-in if you are simply dropping off or picking up an item in the office.
As we prepared for this new technology we met with the Gilbert Police Department and Maricopa County Sheriff's Office to receive their opinions and suggestions. We received very positive feedback from them, and we are excited to continue our partnership as we grow with this software. The safety of our students is our highest priority, and the Raptor Visitor Management System allows us to quickly identify those that may present a danger to our students. Thank you in advance for your understanding and your support in enhancing the safety protocols in our schools.
