What is a Charter School?

Operating under a charter—a formal agreement outlining mission, programs, goals, and evaluation methods—charter schools are publicly funded institutions with more autonomy than traditional public schools. They are intended to promote innovation and deliver diverse educational opportunities tailored to the specific needs of the communities they serve.
