Fine Arts at ALA Gilbert North
Fine Arts are a significant part of student life at American Leadership Academy Gilbert North.
Students can explore visual art, music, dance, theatre, photography, graphic design, and technical production while developing the focus and confidence that come from practicing something over time.
The current Gilbert North 7–12 site reports more than 1,400 students enrolled in Fine Arts classes and maintains dedicated programs in art, band, choir, dance, orchestra, and theatre, along with additional opportunities in photography and graphic design.
Fine Arts Across the Gilbert North Experience
Creative learning does not begin in 7th grade.
Gilbert North K–6 currently identifies arts and music programs among the extracurricular opportunities available to elementary students. The larger Fine Arts pathway becomes especially broad as students move into later grades, with some instrumental programs beginning as early as 5th and 6th grade. That gives young Eagles room to discover an interest before deciding how far they want to take it.
For one student, Fine Arts may be a first art class. For another, it may eventually mean marching onto a field, performing onstage, designing scenery, joining an orchestra, or preparing a portfolio.

A Pathway to Success
Fine Arts and Graduation
Participating in the arts does more than just build creativity and confidence, it also plays a direct role in a student’s high school graduation plan.
That is why our current graduation requirements include one full credit in either Fine Arts or Career and Technical Education (CTE) across our standard Graduation, Honors, and STEM diploma pathways. This flexibility allows students to pursue their creative passions while actively checking off the requirements needed for their future success.

Creative work is rarely perfect the first time. That is part of the point. Students rehearse, revise, adjust, and try again. Eventually, something that was difficult becomes something they know how to do.

Some students know early that music or theatre is going to be part of their life. Others find out because they tried a class they almost did not take. Ironwood gives students several ways to explore performing arts, whether they want to sing, play an instrument, march, perform, work backstage, or become part of an ensemble.
