What is a Charter School?
Charter schools are educational institutions funded by the public but function with more independence and flexibility than traditional public schools. Created via a charter—a performance agreement outlining the school's mission, programs, goals, and evaluation techniques—they aim to foster innovation and offer a variety of educational opportunities that address the unique needs of their communities.

Meet the Director
Mitch Henderson
Mr. Mitch Henderson is the Director of the ALA Mesa Elementary Campus. Mr. Henderson has great familiarity with families from the area because he most recently served as Assistant Director of Academics for Ironwood Junior High and High School. Mr. Henderson holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, and a principal certification. Prior to joining ALA, Mr. Henderson dedicated his more than 20 year career to serving families in the field of education as a teacher and administrator with Chandler Unified School District, and principal of several private day schools. He has also served as a director within the nonprofit sector where he assisted individuals in improving their financial and educational situations.
