The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB)

The ASVAB is offered to high school and post-secondary students as part of the ASVAB Career Exploration Program. The program provides tools to help students learn more about career exploration and planning, in both the civilian and military worlds of work. The ASVAB Career Exploration Program is free of charge to participating schools.

This does not mean that your student is making a commitment to the armed forces. It is an aptitude test that is offered here at American Leadership Academy. Data retrieved from the ASVAB may be used to support students as they finalize their college and career action plans.

The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is a multiple choice test, administered by the United States Military Entrance Processing Command, used to determine qualification for enlistment in the United States Armed Forces.

Arizona Career Information System (AZCIS)

High school is a time to explore and prepare. Thinking about what you want from high school and taking concrete steps to achieve your goals will help you reach your dreams.

Career Plan helps you learn more about yourself, research and evaluate your options, set and update goals, and make plans to assure your success. Whether you want to go to college, get a job, or follow some other pathway, the journey will be more rewarding if you follow some simple steps. Career Plan is organized into three levels of activities:

Getting Started – Activities for you to use to begin your plan, typically grades 8-9.
Looking Deeper – Activities to help you expand and update your plan as you explore your dreams, typically grades 10-11.
Next Steps – Activities that focus on getting ready for your life and learning after high school, typically grade

Each level contains five sections with activities that help you answer some reflection questions posed in the section. Your answers to the questions create your plan. The five sections portrayed on the logo to the right are:

Know Myself – activities to help you better know yourself
Research Options – activities to help you research occupations and training options
Evaluate Options – activities to help you weight your options
Set Goals – activities to help you set personal, academic and career goals, and
Make Plans – activities to support your career and life planning.

The Common Application

The Common Application is a not-for-profit membership organization that, since its founding over 35 years ago, has been committed to providing reliable services that promote equity, access, and integrity in the college application process. We serve students, member institutions, and secondary schools by providing applications – online and in print – that students and school officials may submit to any of our more than 450 members. Membership is open to colleges and universities that promote access by evaluating students using a holistic selection process.

The East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT)

The East Valley Institute of Technology is one of the best resources Arizona’s students have to guarantee themselves success. Upheld as a model for career and technical education by the U.S. Department of Education, EVIT provides students with the advanced skills and training needed to thrive in today’s competitive job market.

EVIT adds to a student’s academic instruction with hands-on learning provided by experienced professionals and excellent resources. By allowing students to earn elective credit in more than 40 occupation-specific programs, EVIT enhances the future of every type of student.

EVIT programs are tuition-free to high school students who live in 10 East Valley school districts – Mesa, Scottsdale, Fountain Hills, Tempe, Apache Junction, Chandler, Gilbert, Higley, Queen Creek and J.O. Combs. These students, including charter school and home-schooled students, spend half their day at EVIT and the other half at their sending high school or home school.

EVIT also offers classes for adults, allowing them to benefit from quality education with low tuition rates and a variety of financial aid and interest-free payment options.

One student at a time, EVIT is fulfilling its mission of providing a productive, technically trained workforce to meet the market-driven needs of business and industry. EVIT is also meeting the needs of families faced with the ever-increasing cost of a college education. Two out of three EVIT students go on to higher education, many of them using their EVIT training to secure employment to help pay their college tuition.

Early College & CAC

If you are a junior or senior who is interested in participating in the Early College program, register online! The Early College program provides Pinal County high school students an opportunity to get a jump start on their college education. Students meeting eligibility requirements can receive a 5-Credit tuition waiver each semester at CAC, after the completion of their sophomore year, through the summer after the completion of their senior year.
