Art
Art
We can find beauty in our “oops”. As a child I loved art until I started comparing my art to others around me. My goal is to guide your student to see the greatness and beauty in their art like I did. I will create an environment where students can have fun, relax and be creative.
Art will be held once a week throughout the school year. Each student will learn the 7 Elements of Art:
- Color
- Line
- Shape
- Texture
- Form
- Value
- Space
Showing off Students Work
Each quarter, your student will learn about a different artist and incorporate the elements of art into an art project. Your student will also be given the opportunity to work with different art mediums to create different styles of art pieces. Every month students will create a new art piece to be displayed. Art work will be hung in the classrooms, hallways and cafeteria. The students enjoy seeing their work displayed around the school. This also gives students the opportunity to show friends and family their hard work. And a great way to get the students talking about art.
The benefits of art for kids goes beyond fun. Art can also help students excel in other educational areas. I am honored to be able to teach your student. I believe when children are taught creativity skills their confidence grows.
Learn. Lead. Change the world.
Meet Queen Creek K-6's Art Teacher
Hello, my name is Andrea Petersen and I am excited to welcome your student to my art class this year. Like Pablo Picasso I believe that “Every child is an artist”. My goal is for every student to find joy in creativity.
I am from Kanab, Utah. I grew up in the center on four national parks; Bryce, Zion, Lake Powell and The Grand Canyon. I still enjoy hiking, 4-Wheeling and repelling the red hills of Kanab. I have been married for 19 years and I have four wonderful children who all attend ALA. I was lucky enough to be a stay at home mom for 16 years.
I am truly passionate about teaching. This will be my 3rd year teaching Art at ALA. I enjoy spending my day motivating creative minds.
