CAC Offers High School Outreach Programs
If you would like to get a jump start on earning college credit please consider joining one of the following programs. Please note that each program may have different requirements, application process, and contact information.
- The Early College Program: This program provides high school students an opportunity to get an early start into college by taking courses while still enrolled in high school during the fall and spring semesters. Students must be enrolled in four high school classes to participate in the Early College Program. Spend part of your day at high school and part of your day at a college campus or center. Students that meet the program requirements will receive a scholarship for tuition. Students are responsible for the costs of books, transportation, and class materials.
- The First Step Program: First Step is a summer program for Pinal County high school students who have completed their sophomore, junior, and or senior year of high school. This program allows high school students to enroll in college courses before graduating from high school. Students who enroll in this program may register for up to 5 college credits and receive a tuition waiver (covering in state tuition). Students are responsible for the purchase of textbooks, class materials, and are responsible for their own transportation to and from class.
- Dual Enrollment: High School students may take college classes at their high school as part of their regular high school day. Students are responsible for paying the tuition. Contact your high school guidance counselor for more information about the classes available at your high school.
- Concurrent Enrollment: Concurrent Enrollment is an opportunity for high school students who are academically prepared to earn college credit while still in high school as a Special Admit student. Students are responsible for tuition and fees, the purchase of textbooks, class materials, and for their own transportation to and from one of CAC campuses or centers.
Application and other criteria are needed for admission to High School Outreach Programs offered by Central Arizona College. All students must apply by completing the required admissions and registration forms for classes they wish to participate in.
Each of the above programs may have additional processes and requirements that the student is responsible for meeting. Please see a CAC Admission’s, Advising or Registration staff member for additional information.
