American Leadership Academy Vistancia provides tuition-free public charter education for students in grades 6–12 at 28801 N El Mirage Rd. in Peoria, Arizona.
Junior high school is where students begin taking more responsibility for their education. High school builds on that independence with graduation requirements, advanced coursework, career exploration, and decisions about what comes after ALA.
Students are supported through core academics, electives, Student Services, college-ready courses, Career and Technical Education, athletics, Fine Arts, and a school culture guided by ALA’s R.A.I.S.E. values.

Preparing for High School
Junior high school brings more independence and more moving parts. Students begin managing several teachers, classes, assignments, deadlines, and electives while continuing to build knowledge in English, mathematics, science, history, and other core subjects.
Junior high school students begin learning how to:
- Manage multiple assignments and deadlines
- Prepare for assessments
- Organize materials and schoolwork
- Communicate with teachers
- Balance academics with activities
- Recognize when they need help
- Take responsibility for missed work or mistakes
- Plan ahead instead of reacting at the last minute
Two Year Plan
Students and families work together during grades 7 and 8 to develop a two-year plan that prepares students for high school coursework and future academic expectations.
Education and Career Action Plan
In 8th grade, students begin developing their Education and Career Action Plan (ECAP) with support from a Student Services Advisor, exploring high school coursework, career interests, and long-term goals.
High School Credit
Some junior high coursework may qualify for high school credit, including Algebra 1 and Geometry. High school-level world language may earn credit with a C or above and at least 80% on the final exam.

High school turns academic planning into something much more concrete. Students work through required courses while gaining more opportunities to shape their schedule around personal interests and future goals.
ALA Vistancia offers advanced coursework, electives, Career and Technical Education, Fine Arts, and college-ready opportunities alongside the core subjects required for graduation.

Course choices become more important as students move through grades 6–12.
Vistancia Student Services helps students and families understand graduation requirements, course options, advanced coursework, college preparation, transcripts, financial aid, career pathways, and other post-secondary decisions. Students can use Student Services for help with:

Measuring Progress
Tracking Academic Growth
Students enrolled in Arizona public education participate in required state assessments.
Junior High: Students in grades 7 and 8 complete state assessments in reading, writing, and math. 8th graders also take the state science assessment and the civics exam.
High School: Students participate in assessments such as ACT Aspire, AzSCI, and the ACT, depending on grade level and state requirements, and must meet the civics exam requirement for graduation.

Vistancia currently identifies Career and Technical Education pathways in areas including:

CTE gives students a chance to connect academic learning with industries, technical skills, and careers they may want to pursue after graduation.
Programs and course availability can change, so students should work with Student Services when determining how CTE fits into their academic and graduation plan.

ALA Vistancia offers academic opportunities designed to challenge students and help them prepare for college-level expectations. Depending on grade level, campus offerings, and student readiness, students may have access to:

Students prepare for life after high school through academic planning, assessments, advising, and post-secondary opportunities, including:
