At American Leadership Academy West Foothills is one of the largest elementary schools in Arizona, and it has had a waitlist every year since it opened. Our K–5 academic model places a strong emphasis on literacy and mathematics to develop capable problem-solvers, preparing young Guardians for a seamless transition to our neighboring grades 6–12 campus.
West Foothills also offers it's elementary students three separate interior playground areas give each age group its own space, and a field handles PE and athletics when the weather cooperates.

Academics Built for Long-Term Growth
Elementary students need both skills and knowledge. They need to read fluently, write clearly, understand mathematics, ask questions, remember what they have learned, and connect new ideas with things they already know.
To build this foundation, we use the Core Knowledge curriculum and Eureka Math, placing a heavy emphasis on literacy and problem-solving. Teachers introduce material at a manageable pace, ensuring students truly understand the concepts so they can confidently keep building upon them year after year.
The results follow from the classroom. West Foothills has earned an A rating every year it has been eligible and holds the highest average AASA proficiency among ALA's Arizona elementary campuses over the past four years. Students have also won the ALA District Book Battle in three of the last four years.

At ALA West Foothills, learning goes beyond core subjects because students need opportunities to use different strengths. That is why our K–5 campus features dedicated teachers in Art, Music, Physical Education, and Leadership.
In these classes, character becomes concrete. Art asks students to make creative decisions, music requires listening and repetition, and physical education develops teamwork and persistence. Most importantly, our leadership focus asks students to think about how their choices affect other people, helping them turn small, everyday decisions into lifelong habits.

Our grades 2-6 Gifted and Talented (GT) program offers a dynamic, accelerated learning environment that fosters creative thinking, leadership, and academic mastery.
