504 plans at American Leadership Academy gives all students the chance at success. Being able to provide this is extremely important to our staff and teachers. 504 plans allow us to provide exceptional learning opportunities to all students, including those with disabilities (even if they don’t qualify for special education programs).

What is a 504 plan?

Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 prohibits discrimination in schools.

A 504 plan is specifically designed to meet the needs of students with disabilities. Separate from Special Education, 504 plans help students who have a physical or mental impairment that limits one or more major life activities.

What will a 504 plan do for my student?

A 504 plan is designed to help a student with a disability succeed in a general education classroom. The plan might include specified accommodations to meet a student’s needs in the classroom.


How do I know if my student needs a 504 plan?
