School Leaders

Will Dunman, Director

Will has been part of the ALA family as the Assistant Director of Academics at ALA Queen Creek High School. He was born and raised in Florida and is married to Lisa Dunman, who also works as one of the Special Education Site Coordinators for ALA. They have three children, Trae and his wife Alyssa, a son Tyler and daughter named Sadie. He also has two granddaughters Ellie and Payton.

Will Dunman has a Bachelor's degree from Northern Arizona University in Elementary Education and Special Education and also holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University.

Will and his family spent 18 years living in Payson, Arizona where he started his career as a special education teacher, coach and administrator. 

Caree Safsten, Assistant Director

Caree Safsten is an Arizona native with extensive experience in education and a love for the community. She received an undergraduate degree from Arizona State University in Special Education and a Masters of Education Administration from Grand Canyon University.  Caree taught special education for many years before joining the ALA family in 2016 as a Special Education Site Coordinator. She was part of the founding team leading  ALA Gilbert North Elementary and High School to a successful opening. She was most recently the special education teacher at ALA Gilbert Elementary.

Caree and her husband Mark are blessed with a large family of 10 amazing children, 15 adorable grandchildren, and 2 pups.  She loves getting together with the family for games and activities.  She is tickled to peek in on grandchildren everyday during school.  She also enjoys traveling with her husband, exercising, cooking, and working in the family garden.  Caree’s family owns a small online t-shirt company, Flybird Apparel, that seeks to promote positive messages through their product.  

Caree is honored to represent American Leadership Academy and the vision to Learn. Lead.  Change the World!
