Ashley Hayes

My name is Ashley Hayes. I attended ALA when I was in high school and recently graduated from Grand Canyon University with a degree in Elementary Education. This will be my third year teaching fourth grade and my second year with ALA. I love learning and continue to prioritize my own education. Currently, I am pursuing certification as a gifted teacher and a master's in education. As an educator, I place a heavy emphasis on reading, critical thinking, and parent-teacher communication. I am very passionate about learning and education.

This is my sixth year with ALA but my 23rd year as a kindergarten teacher.  I am thrilled to be part of the ALA team and fully believe in its vision to help each child attain the skills and values necessary to learn, lead, and change the world.

Growing up, my father was in the Air Force so i had the opportunity to live all around the world.  I went to high school in Canada (shoveling snow in May!) and then moved with my family to Arizona in 1990 where I attended A.S.U.  I then spent several years with Head Start in Mesa and Bright Horizons in Tempe where i met my wife and convinced her I was her one true love.    After getting married in 2001 we went way-way-way-way out to the eastern edge of town (Val Vista and Ray- my how times have changed!) and bought the house where we still live today.  We are proud parents of 2 amazing kids: Emily who is in Freshman at the University of Arkansas and an avid cheer leader/tumbler/eye roller, and 8th grader Ryan, who is here at ALA and believes with all his heart that one day he will beat me at ping-pong.  Besides trying to foil our 2 rescue puppies attempts to eat our house, we love bowling, camping, fire pits, sitting on the patio during rain storms, and game nights.

If you ever have a question or concern about your child please don't hesitate to drop into class after school or shoot me an e-mail.  I cherish those parents that take an active role in their child's education!

Thanks again for choosing ALA!

Hello wonderful ALA families!  I feel extremely fortunate to be part of an amazing kindergarten team, and the all the wonderful staff at American Leadership Academy Gilbert North. This is my ninth year teaching, and my third year teaching kindergarten. I have a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and a Master of Arts in Elementary Education. I am certified by the Arizona  Department of Education to teach kindergarten through 8th grade. I also stay busy as a mom to my 18 year old daughter Kaitlyn (BYU-Idaho Freshman), my 16 year old daughter Brooklyn (ALA Gilbert North Junior), my 10 year old son Blake (ALA Gilbert North 4th grader), my 5 year old son Liam (kindergarten), and a little rescue dog named Bella. I enjoy exercising, listening to books, camping, and traveling. Our most recent trip this summer was a family cruise to the Caribbean.  I am originally from Northern California, but have called Arizona home for over 20 years. I am so excited for another wonderful year teaching kindergarten!

Cindy Woodbury

Hi! My name is Cindy Woodbury. I started teaching kindergarten sixteen years ago and I am thrilled to be at American Leadership Academy North Gilbert!

I am a Southern California native, but I have called Mesa home since I got married 40 years ago. My husband Garth and I raised five children here and now we are true empty-nesters--our kids are in Arizona, Utah, and Washington. We travel to see our six (almost seven) grandchildren as often as we can. In addition to traveling, I love to read, sing, and sew. It should come as no surprise that teaching reading is a passion for me and I sing in my classroom all day long!

Rebekah Rathbun

Hello! My name is Miss Rathbun! I am so excited for the start of this new school year! I have been teaching for eight years and this is my sixth year here at ALA!

A little about myself is that I was born and raised in Arizona. I lived in Washington state for 2 years. I love the sun and the heat, most of the time. My family is very important to me, I have 3 sisters and 7 nieces and nephews! When I am not teaching I love to read, watch movies, watch basketball (GO SUNS!) and spend time with family!

I am so excited for another year of learning and fun!
