Athletics at ALA Johnston

Athletics at American Leadership Academy Johnston give students opportunities to compete, improve, lead, and represent the Patriot community.

Upper School athletics span fall, winter, spring, and year-round programs, connecting competition with teamwork, leadership, and ALA’s R.A.I.S.E. values. We offer tiered competition levels across several sports including junior varsity and varsity teams, allowing student-athletes to develop their discipline, skills, and accountability at every stage of their athletic journey.

Sports Offered by Season

Sports make responsibility visible. Practices begin on time, teammates notice whether someone has prepared, and coaches provide immediate feedback.

Johnston athletics help student-athletes develop leadership and teamwork on and off the field, while learning the discipline and accountability that come with competition. The score matters, but so does the work, preparation, and teamwork that made it possible.

The primary purpose of athletics is to teach our student athletes how to become future leaders within the community.

Building Patriot Traditions

Cheer on the Patriots

Whether on the field, the court, or the track, ALA Johnston athletics give students a place to compete, belong, and improve.

Game night may be the most visible part of our programs, but those events represent everything that came before them: the early practices, the conditioning, the repeated drills, and the choice to make another attempt the next day. A team earns the result together, learning how individual effort, preparation, and attitude impact everyone around them.

Some Patriots arrive already knowing the sport they want to play, while others discover a new passion after they get here. Either way, athletics give students another place to compete, belong, improve, and learn how their effort, preparation, and attitude affect the people around them.
