At our schools, we are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all students, educators, and staff. In alignment with North Carolina law (§ 115C-105.51), we have implemented the Say Something Anonymous Reporting System (SS-ARS) to promote a proactive and collaborative approach to school safety.
The SS-ARS program teaches students, staff, and administrators how to recognize warning signs and signals—especially those that appear on social media—of individuals who may be at risk of harming themselves or others. The program empowers participants to:
-
Recognize signs and signals of at-risk behaviors
-
Take every sign and signal seriously and act quickly by reporting to a trusted adult
-
Report concerns anonymously through the 24/7 SS-ARS Crisis Center, mobile app, or website
-
Respond effectively to submitted tips via trained multidisciplinary teams
-
Maintain awareness and engagement through student-led initiatives and school activities
Provided at no cost through Sandy Hook Promise, SS-ARS is part of a broader, evidence-based strategy used by millions of students and educators nationwide to build safer and more supportive school environments. This program is a key component of the ongoing work at our schools to address issues such as bullying, self-harm, substance abuse, and potential threats of violence.
