Return To School Letter

american-leadership-academy_school-district-logo-400x100

Dear ALA Families,

We hope this letter finds your family healthy and well. As we enter the summer months, our focus now turns to the reopening of school in the fall. We miss your children dearly and are looking forward to welcoming them back soon. The ALA team has been hard at work to plan a return to school that is as safe and normal as possible. The following principles will guide the development of our plan:

  • Return to school will be as “normal” as possible.
  • Parents are ultimately responsible for their child’s health and well-being. We are here to support.
  • We commit to effectively communicate with you. ALA’s website will be our official outlet for COVID news and plans.
  • While we can only plan for what we know today, we will be nimble and adaptable as new conditions emerge.
  • We have enhanced our sanitation procedures and will continue to invest in new equipment and effective practices to keep our environment safe.

In staying true to our mission to provide the best educational experience possible and our commitment to returning to school in a safe and “normal” manner, we would love to share with you some of the measures we have taken as part of a comprehensive plan that will be completely rolled out soon:

  • Permanent hand sanitizer stations will be installed in every classroom and hallway.
  • Enhance hand-washing stations where needed.
  • Sanitation and hygiene lessons and discussions will be incorporated daily into the curriculum.
  • Student desks will continue to be arranged in rows, facing forward, and will be spaced as far apart as possible.
  • Students will continue to participate in lunch and recess activities.
  • Classrooms and school grounds will be deep cleaned daily.
  • High-touch surfaces will be sanitized throughout the day.
  • Campus health office staff will continue to provide students with compassionate care and address medical issues as they arise.
  • Parents are responsible for determining their child’s health status before arriving at school.
  • Parents are responsible for keeping their child at home should they present with any COVID-like symptoms.
  • Parents may choose to have their child wear a mask to school, but it is not our intention to require a mask.
  • ALA will have a comprehensive online learning option for families not comfortable with a return to campus.
  • Families wishing to transfer their children to an ALA campus with lower enrollment/smaller class sizes will receive priority transfer status. Please contact your campus registrar to discuss transfer options.

ALA remains in close communication with the Governor’s office and Arizona’s Department of Health. Should the current state of the pandemic change, we are prepared to modify the measures listed above in order to maintain a safe environment for your child.

Thank you for your continued flexibility and support.

Sincerely,

The ALA Team
