Meet Miss Henry
Kandice Hales

My name is Miss Henry and this is my second year teaching second grade at American Leadership Academy! I attended Arizona State University and graduated with Magna Cum Laude in a dual degree in Early Education and Early Special Education. Ever since I was young, I wanted to become a teacher. My love for education started with my very own kindergarten and second grade teachers.

Along with teaching, I love to travel and spend time with my family! I have a love for traveling and last summer, I backpacked Europe with my sister. I am the oldest of two and I have a younger sister who is going to University in Scotland and is finishing her Masters Degree there.

I am so excited that together we can Learn, Lead, Change the World!

Meet Mrs. Kunde
Kandice Hales

My name is Julie Kunde and this is my first year teaching at American Leadership Academy. I am so excited to be teaching second grade and to be a part of this amazing team! I have worked at American Leadership Academy as a Title I and SPED paraprofessional and my children have attended this school since 2014. I have been married for 14 years and have three children. I have a daughter in sixth grade, another daughter in fourth grade, and my son is starting kindergarten this year. My family also has three dogs and four tortoises. We love animals! Our favorite thing to do as a family is go camping, but I also enjoy gardening and reading in my spare time. I graduated from Grand Canyon University in May with my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I am passionate about teaching and feel that I have found my calling in being an educator.

Meet Mrs. McCurdy
Eden McCurdy

My family is my life! My husband Dannie and I were married in 2016 and we have two children, our daughter Indie who will be 4, and our son Sylas who will be a year old this November. As a family, we enjoy going to Disneyland as much as possible and exploring nature. I enjoy spending my free time working on crafts and fun projects for my classroom and home. I attended Arizona State University and graduated in 2013 with my Bachelors in Global Health. My schooling took me on trips around the world. Some of the places where I spent most of my time completing my schooling included London, Ireland, India, Mexico, and Jamaica.

I always had a love for teaching and dreamed of one day being an English teacher but my desire to travel and help others around the world took priority. I learned so much from the people I spent time with during that moment in my life and grew to love them so much. I reconnected with a friend of mine that I use to work with at the Pearson publishing company. We were asked to work with them to create and publish curriculum resources for k-2 students. The idea of watching the young minds of these children grow brought so much light into my life. There is something about watching a child learn the basic fundamentals of learning like reading, writing, addition, subtraction, etc. that bring joy to my life.

This is my fourth year at American Leadership Academy working with the second graders and I feel so blessed to be these little guys teacher. They inspire me every day and motivate me to be my best self. Thank you for trusting me with your children and for giving me the opportunity to help them learn and grow in their educational journey. I cant wait to see what the future brings!
