Tuition-Free K-12 Charter School Education

What is a Charter School?

A charter school is a tuition-free public school that gives families another educational option. Charter schools are open to students and are held accountable for academic performance, while also having flexibility in areas such as school culture, instructional approach, and program design.

ALA Blythewood is not a private school and does not charge tuition. As a public charter school, ALA provides families with a choice in public education while focusing on strong academics, leadership, character development, and family partnership.

Our Story in Blythewood

ALA Blythewood was created to meet a growing need for more educational choice in the Blythewood area. As the community continues to grow, families are looking for schools that offer strong academics, clear values, and a place where students can feel known and supported.

We want ALA Blythewood to be a place where families gather, students form lasting friendships, teachers make a meaningful impact, and generations of children grow through the same school culture. From the first day of kindergarten to the final walk toward graduation, our goal is to create a campus that becomes an important part of students’ lives and the community’s future.

Glenn Way, Founder of Charter One and American Leadership Academy

Our Founder

Glenn Way founded American Leadership Academy with a vision to provide families with a strong K–12 educational experience rooted in academic excellence, character development, leadership, and values-based learning. His goal was to create schools that support the family while helping students grow in a moral and wholesome environment.

That founding vision continues at ALA Blythewood. As the campus serves families in Blythewood and the surrounding communities, Glenn’s commitment to education, character, and family partnership remains central to the school’s purpose.

We want our kids to learn why they were created—not just to become the best astronauts, plumbers, or mathematicians, but to become the best spouses, parents, citizens, and leaders.
