School Leader

Sarah Buckliew, Director

Meet Mrs. Sarah Buckliew, the Director of American Leadership Academy Lexington Upper School. A graduate of Bethany College in West Virginia, Mrs. Buckliew has over fifteen years of experience in middle and high school classrooms. She brings extensive expertise in designing and implementing curriculum at the district, state, and national levels.
Mrs. Buckliew previously worked as a consultant at the Goethe Institute, where she specialized in best practices, protocols, classroom management, engagement, and curriculum design as an instructional coach. Her outstanding contributions earned her the prestigious Teacher of Merit Award. Additionally, she served as the President of the American Association of Teachers of German. Most recently, Mrs. Buckliew was the Assistant Director of American Leadership Academy Lexington Upper School.
In her free time, Mrs. Buckliew enjoys running and has qualified for three of the six major world marathons. She has completed the NYC and Boston marathons, and will be competing in the Chicago marathon this October. Ms. Buckliew and her husband, Chris, are proud parents of their son Benjamin, who is six, and their daughter Charlotte, who is four. We are excited to have Mrs. Buckliew's leadership and passion for education guiding our upper school.
